HTTPD for Windows

Installation of HTTPD for Windows is straightforward. The server is distributed as a ZIP file, WHHTPD13.ZIP, which should by unpacked with the PKUNZIP program, using the -D option to preserve the directory hierarchy.

Create a directory C:\HTTPD, copy the ZIP file there and unpack:

    PKUNZIP -D WHHTPD13

The server needs to know the difference between the local time zone and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT or UTC). Set up a time zone variable in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, of the format:

    SET TZ=EST5EDT

The first three letters are the standard abbreviation for your time zone, followed by a number giving the offset in hours from GMT, followed by the three-letter abbreviation of daylight saving time.

Under Windows, create an icon for the server by opening both the File Manager window and the Program Manager window and dragging the HTTPD.EXE file from the File Manager window to the Program Manager window. Double-click on the HTTPD icon to start the server.
