The organization of this book

Part One provides a high-level overview of the issues involved in running a Web site. This is designed to be of general interest to managers, resource authors and contributors, and system administrators or Webmasters.

Part Two is aimed specifically at resource authors and contributors. It gives detailed coverage of the information needed for writing new documents and converting existing documents to enable their publication on the Web. It describes the Hypertext Markup Language, the inclusion of images in Web documents, the various uses of images in documents and the design of fill-out forms, a method used for eliciting user feedback.

Part Three is aimed at system administrators and anyone who wants to understand how a Web server functions. It covers the processes involved in setting up and administering a Web server, how to write programs that dynamically generate Web documents, and security issues.

The Appendices include a comprehensive resource guide, pointers to sources of further information and some notes on the future of the Hypertext Markup Language.

The document is mainly of historical interest as obviously many of the sites mentioned have long since disappeared.
